As the focal point for research at the University, the UNISWA Research Centre facilitates the coordination, strengthening, promotion, generation, accumulation and dissemination of knowledge and information through research, and thereby promotes economic growth and development and socio-cultural values.

URC offers facilitation services to support development of research capacity and to streamline and standardise research support processes toward improving the quality of research. URC accepts and facilitates implementation of research programmes or projects on behalf of UNESWA.
There is a vibrant culture of undergraduate and postgraduate student research at UNESWA with over 300 research projects completed every year. UNESWA provides opportunities for students to develop research and scholarly inquiry skills. Student research encompasses diverse activities that occur in the context of specific courses or as independent projects.
UNESWA is committed to building key partnerships with other universities, governments, industry, businesses, commodity organisations and communities and to negotiate models for local, national, and international research cooperation that enables these partnerships to address pressing challenges to society.
